Town Hall On College Affordability Held

(Columbia, SC)  --  Failing to control the costs of higher education could have drastic consequences.

The Commission on Higher Education held a town hall on college affordability yesterday in Columbia.

Chairman Tim Hofferth warns higher tuition costs will reduce the number of students, which will cause some colleges to close.

To avoid what he calls a catastrophe, "The State" reports Hofferth suggested colleges will have to find ways to cut costs even as they face rising costs in health care and pensions.
