New Ordinance Addresses Five Points Bars

(Columbia, SC)  --  There's a new plan to address violence in Five Points.

Columbia's Public Safety Committee yesterday met to discuss a plan that would force bars to close at 2:00 a.m., but the new plan rescinds that curfew.

Instead, bars can stay open past 2:00 if they qualify for a special and more expensive permit.

The plan also increases the amounts bars can be fined for violations.
