(Elgin, SC) -- A show of restraint by deputies is credited with saving some innocent bystanders from getting caught in crossfire.
While responding to a deadly shooting yesterday in Richland County, deputies say the suspect shot at them, but they did not return fire.
The sheriff's office says the deputies believed there were too many residents around, and they eventually got the man to surrender not far from the scene.
The 21-year-old identified by WIS as Shirley Dylan is accused of killing a man and seriously hurting a woman on Brazell Road in Elgin.
