(Columbia, SC) -- What a Lexington County teacher thought was free money is now costing him thousands of dollars. Art teacher David West is one of more than a dozen teachers around the country suing the federal government after a grant program turned into a loan. West got a four thousand dollar grant to get his Masters degree to teach in a school facing a teacher shortage, but a paperwork error left him with a seven thousand dollar loan instead. West recently told WIS he was left feeling angry and like he was robbed.
