SC Teachers Get Raises

(Columbia, SC)  --  The state's teachers will likely move a step closer to getting raises today.

House and Senate lawmakers reached a deal yesterday on a new budget that the General Assembly will vote on today.

The eight billion dollar budget includes a one-percent raise for teachers and more money for first-year teachers, but "The State" reports a cap on how much retired state workers can make will stay in place.

Teachers wanted the cap removed to entice retired teachers back to the classroom.
