Lawmakers Pass Budget

(Columbia, SC)  --  Raises for teachers and more school security are a step closer to becoming reality.

Lawmakers yesterday passed an eight billion dollar budget that needs to be signed by the governor before becoming law.

The budget includes a one-percent raise for teachers.  It also allows retired law enforcement officers to become school resource officers.

Lieutenant Governor Kevin Bryant refused to ratify the budget because it includes money for Planned Parenthood.

The budget needs to be ratified before going to Governor Henry McMaster.  Bryant says Planned Parenthood is evil, and it should not be funded by taxpayers.
