McMaster, Smith Criticize SCANA Bonuses

(Columbia, SC)  --  The two candidates for governor are finding common ground when it comes to what some have called a golden parachute for SCANA executives.

Republican Governor Henry McMaster and Democratic challenger James Smith yesterday applauded SCANA shareholders for voting against giving execs more than 100-million dollars in bonuses.

McMaster says the people have the right to be concerned and even angry over the payouts, which will likely go through once SCANA's sale to Dominion Energy is approved.

Smith tells The State those receiving the money should resign, and the money should be used to reimburse ratepayers.
