(Winnsboro, SC) -- Despite news a state senator calls a kick in the gut, there is some optimism around Fairfield County.
Element Electronics announced this week it plans to close its TV manufacturing plant in Winnsboro and lay off more than a hundred workers.
State Senator Mike Fanning says the news came at a time when the county was already at rock bottom, but County Councilwoman Bertha Goins tells WACH Fox there are other businesses ready to come in.
Also, Element Electronics says its closure might only be temporary, and they could reopen early next year.
