(Columbia, SC) -- The governor wants the state and the people to be ready in case Hurricane Florence heads our way.
Governor Henry McMaster announced yesterday that he has sent a letter to President Trump asking for a federal disaster declaration. McMaster wants federal resources to be available if Florence makes landfall in the state.
McMaster has also declared a state of emergency, and he advised residents to assume Florence will hit, in his words, smack dab in the middle of the state and move inland.
The current track has the center of the storm coming onshore in North Carolina.
