(Florence, SC) -- The man accused of killing a police officer in Florence is not a stranger to law enforcement.
Fred Hopkins was a lawyer before he was disbarred, and his wife is currently a lawyer. In addition, officers had been to his home in Vintage Place many times before.
Hopkins lives there with at least four foster children.
This latest visit was to serve a warrant to a resident who was wanted for sexual assault of a child in the home, and Hopkins allegedly opened fire with a high-powered rifle from the second floor.
