Bill Aims To Limit Governor's Appointment Powers

(Columbia, SC) -- There's an effort underway at the statehouse to limit the governor's appointment powers.

Some state senators, this week, filed a bill that would restrict the governor from making an interim appointment when the senate is not in session.

The bill was filed in response to Governor Henry McMaster naming Charlie Condon as the interim head of Santee Cooper's board.

Florence Republican Senator Hugh Leatherman tells the Post and Courier the new bill will restore a process that worked well for more than a century.
