(Lexington County, SC) -- A Lexington mother is dead after being hit by a car while running. It happened Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 1 at Charter Road near Lexington High School.
Investigators say Dianne Sullivan Wells, of Lexington, was running with a group of other runners and was hit while she crossed the road. The driver of the car did stop.
Wells died at the scene. She leaves behind a husband and three children.
Lexington County is near the top of the state in traffic deaths so far this year. It's seen the largest spike in traffic deaths of all South Carolina counties compared to last year.
