(Columbia, SC) -- Wildlife officials aren't laughing over what a Columbia man claims was a joke.
Shaun Scott is accused of trying to illegally sell a deer online last weekend, but he never had a deer to sell. DNR investigators saw his Facebook post offering to sell the deer, but when they asked to meet up for the sale, Scott allegedly asked them to send money through an app instead.
Scott denies he was trying to run a scam and says it was just a joke that went too far, but he could get up to 30 days in jail for trying to sell protected native wildlife.
