McMaster Signs Letter Opposing Offshore Drilling

(Columbia, SC) -- The governor is part of an effort to stop what he calls an unnecessary and unacceptable threat to the coast.

Henry McMaster and governors from nine other states sent a letter to the departments of commerce and interior yesterday.

They're asking the federal government to stop seismic airgun surveys as well as offshore oil and gas drilling. They say there's evidence that seismic airgun surveys cause harm to marine life and jeopardize the ocean economy, including tourism.
