The reclusive lottery winner now knows what she wants to do with her record-setting prize.
The unidentified woman won a one-and-a-half billion dollar Mega Millions jackpot in October, but waited until last week to come forward. In a new statement, she says she plans to donate to five charities and nonprofits, including the Simpsonville Art Center and the Ronald McDonald House in Columbia.
She says she realizes that such good fortune carries a tremendous social responsibility to help causes close to her heart.
