(Spartanburg, SC) -- An Upstate ride-share driver has an idea to prevent tragedies like the death of Samantha Josephson.
The 21-year-old USC student was killed over the weekend after apparently getting into a car in Columbia she mistakenly thought was her Uber ride.
Spartanburg's Ryan Smith drives for both Uber and Lyft, and he says while there are already ways to confirm a customer is getting into the right car, he'd like to see a bar code added to cars.
He tells 7News customers could scan the car's bar code with their phone to make sure it's the car they ordered.
