(Columbia, SC) -- Duke Energy is accused of being tone deaf for proposing a massive rate hike.
The utility asked the state to approve a 20-dollar increase of its basic residential rate, which would have amounted to a 238-percent hike for more than half-a-million Upstate customers.
Regulators said this week, though, they would only approve an increase of about four dollars. They also recommended Duke Energy's CEO cut her pay after she made 14-million dollars last year.
