Looks like the future of Santee Cooper won't be decided until next year.
Lawmakers voted yesterday to spend the next several months pouring over and evaluating offers to buy or take over the state owned utility.
They will return next year to make their final decision. A lot of time was spent during this last session considering options and introducing bills, and it looks like this is their final plan.
Lawmakers are trying to find a way to keep the utility's 2 million customers in South Carolina from having to foot the $4 billion fill for the failed nuclear project.
The state has reportedly already gotten 15 bids for the utility.
