(Undated) --- Things are getting better for kids in South Carolina, but they still have ground to make up compared to the rest of the country.
The annual Kids Count Child Well-Being study was released recently, and it finds South Carolina ranks 39th in overall child well-being.
That low ranking comes despite gains in reducing childhood poverty and ensuring high school students graduate on time.
The state was hurt by a rise in the number of children killed in 2017 compared to 2010, and a rise in the number of three and four-year-olds who are not in school.
