(Sumter, SC) -- Joe Biden is expressing regret for his recent comments on working with segregationists in the Senate.
Biden told a mostly African-American audience in Sumter this weekend that it was a misstep when he made the comment last month.
The former vice president, though, said he doesn't want that mistake to define his 50 years of fighting for civil rights and racial justice.
Biden has been on the defense about those comments since they came up in the first debate.
