Lawmaker Seeking To Remove Governor From USC Board

(Columbia, SC) -- A state lawmaker is calling for change in USC's board.

Richland State Rep. Todd Rutherford announced yesterday he will file a bill that would remove the governor from his role on the board of trustees.

Governor Henry McMaster has been criticized for politicizing the board in his quest to get Robert Caslen approved as USC president.

Rutherford says in order to take the politics out of it, we must take the politician out of it.
