(Chesterfield, SC) -- The state is dealing with its first case this year of a potentially deadly horse disease.
Eastern Equine Encephalitis, or Triple-E, was confirmed recently in a one-year-old horse in Chesterfield County.
The Appaloosa colt was not vaccinated and died from the mosquito-borne illness.
Another case of Triple-E was reported last year in Chesterfield County, and it's not clear if this year's case is from the same owner.
