Four Whales Die On Beach Over Weekend

(Edisto Beach,SC) -- Four whales are dead after washing up on the beach this weekend.

The two adult, two juvenile pilot whales washed up on Edisto Beach near access 36 at about 7 a.m. Saturday, and it was unclear how long they had been there. Experts were called for help, but one was already dead when they arrived and the other three had to be put down.

Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network wrote that pushing them back into the ocean "is only prolonging their suffering and making them vulnerable to prey. The more humane thing is to end their suffering."
