(Greenville, SC) -- Former Congressman Trey Gowdy says he 100-percent still believes that public congressional hearings are a circus.
Appearing on CBS' Face The Nation, the former chair of the House Oversight Committee defended the use of private hearings. The South Carolina Republican took issue with the leaks from the House's impeachment proceedings.
While talking about the group of GOP lawmakers who stormed a deposition in a secure room last week, Gowdy said he believes the rules should always be followed.
Gowdy noted he once threw a Republican out of a hearing because he was not a member of the committee.
