(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina lawmakers are pre-filing a bill to create hate crimes legislation.
Currently, the state is one of only four without a hate crime law on the books.
Five representatives pre-filed the bill yesterday as another hate crime bill remains in committee after being introduced to the House earlier this year.
FBI data shows reports of hate crimes have gone up in South Carolina since 2016.
