(Columbia, SC) -- An embattled state leader will not be reappointed.
South Carolina Department of Public Safety director Leroy Smith announced yesterday he would not be returning to his post after his term ends in February.
Instead, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster will be choosing a new director. Smith has served in the role for eight years, but has faced a number of scandals and allegations during his tenure.
