(West Columbia, SC) -- The West Columbia community is speaking out after a church applies for a grant from a foundation run by a presidential candidate.
Brookland Baptist Church, one of the largest black congregations in the state, is seeking funding from the Steyer Foundation.
Some community members think it's a way for Tom Steyer to buy votes, but others say the Steyer family would've donated the money if it weren't for their current campaign.
If the funding is received, the money would go toward renovations at the Lakeview Empowerment Center.
