Faye Marie Swetlick Autopsy Results Released

(Cayce, SC) -- Six year old Faye Marie Swetlik died as a result of asphyxiation.

Officials in Lexington County are confirming six-year-old Faye Swetlik's killer was the deceased male found near her body.

Swetlik disappeared from her home in Cayce February 10th and her body was found three days later. Police also found the body of a 30-year-old neighbor, Coty Taylor, a short time after finding Swetlik.

Speaking with reporters, Department Public Safety Director Byron Snellgrove said evidence leads them to believe that Taylor abducted and killed Swetlik, and he appears to have been the sole perpetrator.

Law enforcement officials had spoken to Taylor and conducted a search of his home before Swetlik's body was found, but no evidence of foul play was found at the time.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Swetlik was not killed at the location where her body was found. Fisher says they have concluded that Swetlik's death was a homicide and it took place only a few hours after she was abducted.

The Coroner's Office is ruling the cause of death as asphyxiation, or suffocation. The Coroner's Office later released a statement saying Taylor's death has been ruled a suicide.
