Absentee Ballots Will Not Require Witness Signature

(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina residents voting absentee by mail this June will not have to have their signature witnessed on the ballot return envelope.

Election officials will accept absentee ballots regardless of whether or not the witness signature is there. Voters still have to sign and date the voter's oath on the return envelope.

The removal of the witness signature requirement applies just to June 9th primaries and June 23rd runoffs.
