Voting Officials Preparing For Fewer Polling Locations, More Absentee Votes

(Columbia, SC) -- Officials are preparing for safe polling sites as the June 9th primary is less than two weeks away.

There will be fewer polling locations as more absentee votes are expected. In Richland County, voting officials have seen over 18-thousand requests for absentee ballots, nearly double how many were requested in 2016.

The number of staff members to help with absentee voters is increasing from six to ten.

Meanwhile, polling locations in Richland County will be announced through postcards in the mail that are being sent out starting today.
