(Columbia, SC) -- A man is suing law enforcement after being shot with tear gas and rubber bullets.

Patrick Norris filed the federal lawsuit yesterday against the Columbia Police Department, Richland County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Leon Lott, and the City of Columbia.

Norris claims he was part of a peaceful group of protesters on May 31st when he was shot in the back with rubber bullets several times.

Sheriff Lott previously said protesters were throwing rocks and bottles before tear gas was used. Norris is seeking a jury trial.
