(Charleston, SC) -- The Mayor of Charleston wants to relocate a statue.
The John C. Calhoun statue is currently in Marion Square, but Mayor John Tecklenburg wants it moved to a local museum. He is sending a resolution to the City Council to start the process.
The mayor says the Heritage Act, which prevents the removal of war memorials without two-thirds approval from the General Assembly, does not pertain to the Calhoun statue because it's "not a war memorial."
