Irmo Town Council Approves Face Coverings Ordinance

(Irmo, SC) -- The Irmo Town Council is enacting an emergency ordinance that requires everyone to wear face masks at retail and food service establishments.

It passed last night in a 3-to-2 vote. The ordinance goes into effect immediately and lasts for 61 days.

They aren't required in outdoor areas where social distancing is being practiced, for children under age ten, or for those whose religious beliefs prevent them from wearing a mask.

Those who violate the ordinance can be fined up to 25-dollars.
