SCEMD Preparing for the Potential Threat of a Hurricane Amidst a Pandemic

With Hurricane season upon us members of South Carolina's Emergency Management Division are planning ahead for the potential threat of Hurricanes effecting the state during a pandemic. Officials have said one of their biggest concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic is transportation for people needing to get to shelters and say they have PPE for shelters. Officials say they're confident that the state can get through this year's hurricane season during the pandemic although it will take longer than normal and with more steps.

Kim Stenson, Director of SCEMD said "Normally at the shelters, there's no need to isolate people necessarily, there's no need to have PPE, there's no need to change how you feed people, that sort of thing. All that has got to be factored in there,"
