Neighbors React To Standoff That Followed Shooting Of Deputy

(Lexington, SC) -- Neighbors in Lexington County are grateful deputies were able to bring a violent situation to a peaceful end.

There was a seven-hour standoff Saturday at a home in the Manchester Park subdivision after Mark Cote allegedly shot a deputy who was responding to a domestic violence call.

The deputy was not seriously hurt, and the 70-year-old Cote was safely taken into custody.

One neighbor tells News 19 officers were very professional, made sure everybody was safe, and she never felt like she was in danger.
