(Columbia, SC) -- The DHEC acknowledges it made a mistake in announcing a child's death.
Officials announced Monday that a child died from the coronavirus, but the Sumter County coroner announced yesterday the person was actually in their 80s.
DHEC says the date of birth was incorrectly submitted to them. So far, only two pediatric deaths have been reported during the pandemic.
