No Pay Raise For State Workers, Teachers As Special Session Nears End

(Columbia, SC) -- State workers and teachers will not receive a pay increase this year.

The South Carolina Senate passed a budget which includes hazard pay for some state employees and funding for teacher pay increases. It was sent on to the House Ways and Means Committee yesterday.

Because this is the last week of a two-week special session, the bill will not reach the House floor until lawmakers return in January.
