(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina is expected to receive COVID-19 vaccines this month. Governor McMaster announced yesterday that the state would receive between 200,000 and 300,000 initial doses.
Once the vaccine is FDA approved, it will first be distributed to health care workers and residents of long-term care facilities.
McMaster warns that most South Carolinians will not be vaccinated for months.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced 2,139 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 223,143 since the pandemic began.
DHEC also reported 26 more deaths, for a state total of 4,280. DHEC says those deaths happened between December 1st and 7th.
