South Carolina To Receive 300,000 Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine This Year

(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina is expecting up to 300-thousand doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine by the end of 2020. 

In the initial vaccine rollout, the state has received 42,900 doses. DHEC says 15 public health facilities were supplied with those doses. 

Shipments of the vaccine are expected to keep coming in each week.

The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced 2,424 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 241,471 since the pandemic began.

DHEC also reported 42 more deaths, for a state total of 4,444. DHEC says the majority of the new deaths happened between December 4th and 13th.
