(Columbia, SC) -- Hundreds of Fort Jackson soldiers and trainees are heading home for the holidays.
Usually soldiers head to Columbia Metropolitan Airport over a 48-hour period, but this year their departures will be staggered over six days.
Around 6,000 soldiers and trainees will be leaving the base. Some will return and be tested for COVID-19 after a two week break, while others graduated basic training yesterday. Around 200 soldiers are expected to remain on base.
