(Columbia, SC) -- There's a new executive director nominated for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
Board members unanimously voted for Navy veteran Dr. Edward Simmer yesterday.
Simmer previously served as deputy chief and chief clinical officer for the military's TRICARE Health Plan.
He must be officially confirmed by the South Carolina Senate next month.
