(Charleston, SC) -- The new sheriff of Charleston County is ending a partnership with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Sheriff Kristin Graziano made the announcement yesterday on her first full day in the position.
The now-terminated agreement had allowed detention officers to perform immigration enforcement duties inside the jail.
The county will still work with ICE if there is a signed warrant by a federal judge for an immigrant's arrest, but the voluntary program that's been in effect since 2009 is ending.
