There are new coronavirus cases and deaths in South Carolina.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced 2,934 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 387,603 since the pandemic began. An additional 226 confirmed COVID deaths were also reported yesterday, putting the state's death toll at 6,235.
One of the deaths dates back to December 24th, but most happened this month. Several of the deaths were reported late due to a system upgrade at DHEC's Office of Vital Statistics, which caused delays.
