(Columbia, SC) -- There are new coronavirus cases and deaths in South Carolina.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control announced 2,228 new cases yesterday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 412,996 since the pandemic began.
An additional 35 confirmed COVID deaths were also reported yesterday, putting the state's death toll at 6,849.
DHEC says the percent positive from the over 35,000 tests most recently reported to them was just under nine-percent.
