Fetal Heartbeat Bill Becomes Law In South Carolina

(Columbia, SC) -- The Fetal Heartbeat bill is now a law in South Carolina.

Governor McMaster signed the bill when it hit his desk yesterday. It makes it illegal for a doctor to perform an abortion in South Carolina once a heartbeat can be detected, except in the cases of rape, incest or the mother's life is in danger.

Planned Parenthood South Atlantic and Greenville Women's Clinic have already filed a lawsuit to try and stop the bill from going into effect, with a hearing on a temporary restraining order scheduled for this afternoon.
