Lawmakers To Consider Banning Transgender Women From Women's Sports Teams

(Columbia, SC) -- The South Carolina House Judiciary subcommittee will debate a bill today that would ban transgender women from playing on women's sports teams.

If passed, the bill would make it state law that only people born with female anatomy can play on girls sports teams at the middle or high school level.

Greenville Republican Representative Ashley Trantham is the primary sponsor of the bill and argues that including trans women on women's teams would take opportunities away from women.

This comes after President Biden signed an executive order that calls for transgender people to be permitted to play on any sports team they want.
