Lawmakers Consider Bill To Make Electrocution Primary Death Penalty Method

(Columbia, SC) -- South Carolina lawmakers will consider a bill that would make the electric chair the more common method for the death penalty.

If it passes, those on death row would be sentenced to death by electrocution unless they request lethal injection.

Under the measure, the Department of Corrections Director would have the final say.

This comes as death sentences in the state have previously been paused over a lack of the supplies needed for a lethal injection.
