Gov. McMaster Appeals Block Of Fetal Heartbeat Law

(Columbia, SC) -- Governor McMaster is appealing an injunction that stops the state's Fetal Heartbeat law.

The bill would prevent most abortions in South Carolina by penalizing healthcare providers who perform the procedure after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

That can happen as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.

Governor McMaster was joined by House Speaker Jay Lucas and Attorney General Alan Wilson in filing an appeal after a judge blocked the law from going into effect.
