Gov. McMaster Issues Executive Order On Face Masks In Schools

(Columbia, SC) -- A new executive order changes face mask rules for public schools.

Governor McMaster signed the order yesterday, giving parents the ability to decide if their children will wear facial coverings.

The Governor has asked DHEC and the South Carolina Department of Education to develop a form that would give a child's legal guardian the ability to opt out of a school district's mask requirements.

The executive order also prohibits any local government or state agency from requiring South Carolina residents to provide proof they've been vaccinated.
