(Columbia, SC) -- University of South Carolina President Bob Caslen is resigning.
In a letter to students, faculty, and staff, Caslen says trust is important for leadership, and he believes it's been lost.
His resignation was submitted to the Board of Trustees yesterday and is effective today.
The resignation comes after his commencement speech over the weekend in which he failed to cite a source and said "University of California" instead of "University of South Carolina."
